El-Kanemi Warriors battled back to secure a 2-2 draw against Moroccan giants Raja Casablanca in the first leg of their 2026/27 CAF Confederation Cup second-round encounter in Ikenne on Sunday.

The Nigerian side took an early lead in the first half but were pegged back by the visitors, who equalised through Shararah to ensure the contest remained evenly poised.

Raja Casablanca stepped up their performance after the break and took the lead through Nigerian forward Mathias Oyewusi, putting the Moroccan side in contention for a valuable away victory.

However, El-Kanemi Warriors refused to surrender and restored parity in the 83rd minute when Nnamdi Mejuobi found the net to make it 2-2.

The late equaliser ensured the Nigerian representatives avoided defeat on home soil and kept the tie open ahead of the return leg in Morocco.

Both sides will now look to secure victory in the second leg as they battle for a place in the next stage of the continental competition.
