Chukwueze lights up Serie A as Milan secure victory over Torino
Samuel Chukwueze made an instant impact on AC Milan’s Serie A campaign, providing a crucial assist as the Rossoneri began the new season with a 2-1 victory away to Torino.
The Nigerian winger played a key role in Milan’s decisive second goal, delivering a precise left-footed cross from the right flank for Adrien Rabiot, who finished at the far post in the 66th minute.
Rabiot’s goal came just two minutes after Alphadjo Cissè had put Milan ahead, with the Frenchman first creating the opener before turning scorer to give his side a two-goal cushion.
Although Torino pulled one back through Che Adams deep into stoppage time, Milan held firm to secure maximum points on the road.
For Chukwueze, the assist represents another encouraging step in what has become an increasingly productive spell in Serie A.
Milan’s post match statistics show that the Nigerian has now been directly involved in three goals across his last four league appearances, with all three contributions coming as assists.
Remarkably, that tally matches the number of assists he registered in his previous 25 Serie A appearances.
Operating from the right side of Rúben Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 formation, Chukwueze was given greater responsibility on the flank and looked threatening before eventually producing the delivery that unlocked Torino’s defence.
His latest performance could prove significant as Milan assess how best to utilise the Nigerian’s pace, creativity and attacking instincts during the campaign.
While one game is too early to draw definitive conclusions, Chukwueze’s recent run of three assists in four league appearances offers a strong indication that the winger is finding his rhythm at a crucial stage of his Milan career.
For the Super Eagles, it is also a promising development, with one of Nigeria’s most dangerous wide players already showing his ability to influence matches from the opening day.
