Comoros captain Maoulida insists no pressure ahead of Super Falcons clash
Comoros captain Assimina Maoulida says her team will approach their 2028 Olympic Games qualifying clash against Nigeria’s Super Falcons without pressure, insisting that the players are focused on enjoying the game and expressing themselves on the pitch.
The Comoros will face Nigeria at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, with Maoulida acknowledging the importance of the encounter while maintaining that her teammates are determined to play with freedom and confidence.
The skipper stressed that her side would not allow the occasion or the reputation of their more experienced opponents to affect their approach to the game.
“At the moment, we don’t have pressure. It’s still football, and we are here to enjoy our match,” Maoulida said.
She added that the players would remain committed to their style of play, focus on giving their best and allow the match to unfold naturally.
“And play it how we love our football, and there is no pressure to have, and we’ll see what happens,” she added.
The encounter presents Comoros with an opportunity to measure themselves against the Super Falcons, one of Africa’s most established women’s national teams, as both sides pursue qualification for the 2028 Olympic Games.
While Nigeria will be looking to use their home advantage and experience to secure a positive result, Maoulida’s comments suggest that Comoros intend to approach the contest with a relaxed mindset and the freedom to compete against their formidable opponents.
