Edo crush Bayelsa Queens as Pacesetter and Ahudiyannem record wins on NWFL Premiership matchday 10
Edo Queens delivered a statement performance on Matchday 10 of the 2025/26 NWFL Premiership, thrashing defending champions Bayelsa Queens 4–1, while Pacesetter Queens and Ahudiyannem Queens recorded landmark victories in a round filled with drama across the league.
At the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, Edo Queens produced a dominant display to avenge their opening-day loss to Bayelsa Queens. Atume Doosuur set the tone early, opening the scoring in the fourth minute before Chioma Moses doubled the lead five minutes later.
Doosuur struck again in the 13th minute to complete her brace, and Moses added her second goal in the 30th minute to hand the hosts a commanding first-half advantage.
Bayelsa Queens managed a consolation in the 75th minute through Kindness Ifeanyi, but the damage had already been done. Doosuur’s brace also lifted her to the top of the league’s scoring chart with eight goals this season.
In Ibadan, Pacesetter Queens celebrated a historic moment, claiming their first-ever top-flight victory with a 2–0 win over Adamawa Queens at the Lekan Salami Stadium. Hikmat Adewale broke the deadlock in the 51st minute, before Kaase Esther sealed the result with a second goal in the 80th minute, giving the side a crucial boost in their fight against relegation.
Ahudiyannem Queens also had reason to celebrate after securing their first away victory under new head coach Adanna Nwaneri. They edged Remo Stars Ladies 2–1 in Ikenne, with Uduakobong Monday opening the scoring in the 34th minute. Daniella Fagbenro restored parity for the hosts in first-half stoppage time, but Mary Lucky struck the decisive goal in the 64th minute her first since completing a move from Edo Queens.
Dannaz Ladies returned to winning ways with a narrow 1–0 victory over Osun Babes in Ile-Ogbo, courtesy of Fausat Idris’ 75th-minute strike. Robo Queens also bounced back from their heavy defeat to Nasarawa Amazons, defeating Sunshine Queens 1–0 in Lagos thanks to an early eighth-minute goal from Opeyemi Ajakaye.
In Uyo, Ibom Angels defeated Naija Ratels 3–1 at the Township Stadium. Happiness Agboye scored twice in the eighth and 36th minutes, while Godsgift Afigbediator converted a 28th-minute penalty. Chekwube Oneje pulled one back for Naija Ratels in the 38th minute.
Ekiti Queens secured a 2–0 victory over Heartland Queens, with Kaosarat Olamide Olanrewaju opening the scoring in the 32nd minute before Amarachi Okoronkwo added a second just after the restart.
Confluence Queens left it late to defeat Abia Angels 2–1 in Aba. An own goal by Onyedikachi Ekezie handed the visitors an early lead before Hannah Yusuf equalised in the 54th minute. Emmanuel Seember then struck deep into stoppage time (90+6’) to seal a dramatic win.
In Asaba, Delta Queens and Nasarawa Amazons shared the spoils in a 1–1 draw. Anastesia Terfa gave Delta the lead in first-half stoppage time, but Ayowunmi Omosuyi equalised shortly after the restart in the 49th minute.
Following the results, Bayelsa Queens drop to second place in Group A behind Rivers Angels, while Edo Queens remain third on 21 points. In Group B, Robo Queens sit top with 24 points, Nasarawa Amazons climb to second on 19 points, and Remo Stars Ladies slip to third with 18.
With several wins recorded by teams battling relegation, the fight for survival in the NWFL Premiership continues to intensify as the season approaches its decisive phase.
