Ekiti guber election

Ekiti State Deputy Governor Monisade Afuye Votes, Praises Impressive Turnout

Ekiti State Deputy Governor Chief (Mrs.) Monisade Afuye on Saturday cast her vote in the ongoing governorship election, expressing satisfaction with the orderly conduct of the exercise and the encouraging turnout of voters in her community.

Afuye voted at approximately 8:50 a.m. at Polling Unit 003, Atiba/Aafin Ward 1, Ikere Ekiti, shortly after the commencement of accreditation by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The atmosphere around the polling centre was calm and organised, with residents arriving early to exercise their civic responsibility. Electoral officials were on duty, while security personnel maintained a visible presence to ensure a peaceful voting process.

Although some polling units experienced minor delays linked to card-reader authentication, election officials worked to address the issues promptly, allowing voting to continue without major disruptions.

Speaking after casting her ballot, the deputy governor praised the enthusiasm displayed by voters and described the turnout as a positive sign for the democratic process.

She commended residents of Ikere Ekiti and the wider state for participating peacefully in the election, noting that the large number of early voters reflected growing civic awareness and commitment to choosing the state’s leadership through the ballot box.

The governorship election is being closely monitored by security agencies and election observers, with voting taking place across the state amid expectations of a keenly contested race.
