Olympic Eagles head coach Eric Chelle is expected to reduce his 31 man squad following the first phase of preparations for Nigeria’s upcoming Africa U-23 Cup of Nations qualifying encounter against the Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo).

The Franco-Malian tactician initially invited 31 players from Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) clubs to the team's training camp as he assessed the quality and readiness of home-based players ahead of the crucial qualifying fixtures.

The invited players had an opportunity to impress the coaching crew during a friendly encounter against Nigeria National League (NNL) side Remo Stars on Saturday. 

However, the exercise ended in a goalless draw, providing Chelle with another opportunity to evaluate his options before making his final decisions.
