Flamingos welcome five Falconets players ahead of U-17 Women's World Cup
Nigeria's Flamingos have welcomed back five players from the Falconets setup as preparations intensify for the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in Morocco.
Precious Oscar, Favour Nkwocha, Tosin Rafiu, Queen Joseph and goalkeeper Jane Ijirigho have returned to the Flamingos after representing Nigeria's U-20 women's team at the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in Poland.
Their return is expected to strengthen the Flamingos squad, with the players bringing additional international experience from the U-20 tournament as Nigeria steps up preparations for the global U-17 competition.
Attention is also turning to the Super Falcons, who are preparing to begin their qualifying campaign for the 2028 Olympic Games against Comoros.
Interim Super Falcons head coach Augustine Eguavoen has selected a 28-player squad for the two-legged Olympic qualifier, with the team scheduled to open camp in Ikenne on Sunday, October 4.
While the Super Falcons focus on their Olympic qualification assignment, the Flamingos will continue preparations for the U-17 Women's World Cup in Morocco.
The return of Oscar, Nkwocha, Rafiu, Joseph and Ijirigho provides the Flamingos with further depth and experience as Nigeria enters the final phase of preparations for the tournament.
