Golden Eaglets begin WAFU-B preparations with 62 players
Nigeria's quest for another successful outing at youth level has officially begun, with Golden Eaglets head coach Uwejamomere Eboboritse naming a 62-man provisional squad ahead of the 2026 WAFU B U17 Championship.
The invited players will converge in Abuja for the first phase of screening and training as the technical crew begins the task of assembling a formidable squad for the regional tournament scheduled to hold in October.
Eboboritse, alongside his assistants Kalli Mohammed Kachalla and Abdullahi Isa, will assess the large pool of talent as they seek to build a team capable of continuing Nigeria's rich tradition in age-grade football. The Golden Eaglets remain the most successful nation in FIFA U17 World Cup history, having lifted the global title five times.
The provisional list comprises five goalkeepers, 18 defenders, 20 midfielders, and 19 forwards, with players drawn from football academies and clubs across the country.
