Ilenikhena's stunner named Saudi Pro League Goal of the week
Nigeria’s George Ilenikhena has earned another individual accolade after his stunning strike against Al-Nassr was voted the Saudi Pro League Goal of the Week.
The Al-Ittihad forward produced a sensational display against Cristiano Ronaldo’s side, scoring twice to inspire his team to a 2-1 victory and hand Al-Nassr their first defeat of the season. 
Ilenikhena wasted little time making his mark, opening the scoring in the fourth minute before doubling Al-Ittihad’s advantage in the 22nd minute.
His second goal proved decisive, with Angelo Gabriel pulling one back for Al-Nassr later in the game, but the hosts held on to claim all three points.
The victory ended Al-Nassr’s perfect start to the Saudi Pro League campaign and underlined Ilenikhena’s growing influence since his arrival in Saudi Arabia.
The 20-year-old Nigerian has now scored four league goals this season, with his impressive run continuing when he found the net again in Al-Ittihad’s subsequent 2-1 victory over Al-Fayha.
His latest recognition adds to what has been a remarkable start to life in the Saudi Pro League following his move from French club Monaco.
Ilenikhena joined Al-Ittihad in February 2026 on a two-and-a-half-year contract, beginning a new chapter in his rapidly developing career. 
The forward’s recent scoring form is also likely to intensify calls for his inclusion in the Super Eagles, particularly with Nigeria preparing for upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying fixtures.
Ilenikhena could also come into consideration for Nigeria’s proposed international friendly against Russia on October 6.
His emergence provides another attacking option for the Super Eagles, with the youngster continuing to build his reputation as one of Nigeria’s promising young forwards.
For now, however, Ilenikhena can savour another milestone in Saudi Arabia after his spectacular effort against Al-Nassr was officially recognised as the league’s Goal of the Week.
With his goals continuing to flow, the former Monaco striker appears increasingly determined to make his mark both at club level and on the international stage.
