Tobi Amusan shines in Ostrava with 12.45s win
Tobi Amusan is back in winning form.
The Nigerian sprint hurdler stormed to victory in the women’s 100m hurdles at the Golden Spike meet in Ostrava, Czech Republic, on Tuesday, clocking 12.45 seconds to finish well ahead of the pack.
It was a confident run from the world record holder, who looked sharp and in control from start to finish, a strong statement as she continues to build momentum this season.
Slovakia’s Viktória Forster took second in 12.74 seconds, just ahead of Ireland’s Sarah Lavin, who clocked 12.76 seconds, both running their fastest times of the season.
For Lavin, it was another promising performance. The Irish athlete shaved over a tenth of a second off her previous best of 12.90, continuing her steady rise on the European circuit.
As for Amusan, this win adds to growing signs that she’s hitting her stride just in time for the biggest meets on the calendar.
