Ikenne showdown: Newly promoted quartet shift focus to NNL crown and 10m Naira prize
With promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) already secured, attention now turns to supremacy as Sporting Lagos, Inter Lagos, Doma United, and Ranchers Bees begin their quest for the 2025–2026 Nigeria National League (NNL) Super Four title today.
The Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, Ogun State, sets the stage for what promises to be a high-stakes yet pride-driven contest among the four successful sides.
Rather than fighting for promotion, the quartet now battles for bragging rights, momentum, and the ₦10 million winner’s purse that crowns the overall league champion.
Proceedings kick off with Sporting Lagos facing Ranchers Bees at 2pm, a fixture expected to test the ambition of both sides eager to make an emphatic statement. Later in the day, Doma United lock horns with Inter Lagos at 4pm in another encounter loaded with intrigue.
Beyond the financial incentive, each team is assured of ₦2 million as participation fees, underlining the league’s effort to reward performance and professionalism.
Organisers have also reinforced structure, mandating clubs to present their head coach and a player for both pre and post-match press conferences, a move aimed at elevating media engagement and league standards.
Chief Executive Officer of Toptier Sports Management Limited, Chichi Nwoko, emphasized the level of preparation behind the tournament, stating “We have worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure that all modalities are in place for a superb outing.
From logistics to matchday operations, the goal is to deliver a tournament that reflects the growing standards of the league.”
While Lagos boasts two representatives in Sporting Lagos and Inter Lagos, the challenge from Doma United and Ranchers Bees owned by Super Eagles striker Umar Sadiq adds a compelling national dimension to the contest.
Now free from the pressure of qualification, all four teams enter the competition with renewed intent, seeking not just silverware but a psychological edge ahead of their NPFL campaign.
As action begins in Ikenne, the spotlight is firmly on who will seize this final opportunity to assert dominance before stepping onto Nigeria’s top flight stage.
