Joy Omewa delighted after scoring twice in BK Håcken 9-0 win
Joy Omewa expressed her delight after scoring twice in her first home start for BK Häcken as the Swedish side cruised to a 9-0 victory over IK Uppsala.
The Nigerian forward, who joined BK Häcken during the summer, made an immediate impact as her side produced a dominant performance at the Nordic Wellness Arena.
Speaking after the match, Omewa said she was pleased with both her personal contribution and the team’s emphatic victory.
“It was exciting, and I'm glad I was able to score a few goals too, so it's a really good start,” Omewa said.
The striker also highlighted the importance of the victory in boosting the team’s confidence and morale.
“It’s really important. I feel that after the last match, we really needed this to raise our morale again and get going. So, it’s a really good victory for us,” she said.
According to Omewa, the result was less about the margin of victory and more about restoring the team’s energy and confidence.
“It’s not that important, but we needed to do it to get our energy back. We needed the victory more, and we got it, while scoring many goals along the way,” she added.
Looking ahead, Omewa acknowledged that BK Häcken’s next challenge would be demanding but expressed optimism about the team’s chances.
“I think that match will be intense and tough, but hopefully we’ll get a good result,” the forward said.
Reflecting on her performance, Omewa added: “I’m really pumped and very happy.”
The emphatic victory gives BK Häcken renewed momentum as the Damallsvenskan enters the international break.
