Juventus Consider Move for Nigeria goalkeeper After Hitting Roadblock in Emiliano Martínez Pursuit
Juventus have reportedly turned their attention to Nigerian international Maduka Okoye as they intensify efforts to strengthen their goalkeeping department ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The Bianconeri are said to be exploring alternative options after encountering difficulties in their pursuit of Aston Villa and Argentina goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez, whose impressive performances at the ongoing FIFA World Cup have further enhanced his reputation.
According to reports from Italy, Okoye has emerged as a serious candidate following an outstanding campaign with Udinese in Serie A.
The Super Eagles goalkeeper bounced back strongly from an early-season setback after serving a six-match suspension related to a betting investigation, re-establishing himself as one of the league’s most dependable shot-stoppers.
The 26-year-old finished the campaign with nine clean sheets while conceding only 32 goals in 30 league appearances, playing a key role in Udinese’s top-half finish.
His consistency, composure on the ball and commanding displays between the posts have attracted interest from several clubs, with Juventus now believed to be among his admirers.
Italian publication Tutto Udinese reports that the Turin giants have shifted focus to Okoye after facing obstacles in negotiations for Martínez, viewing the Nigerian as a realistic and high-quality alternative.
Udinese, meanwhile, are reportedly willing to consider offers for their first-choice goalkeeper, provided they secure an adequate replacement before the new season begins.
The Friuli club have already identified Bologna goalkeeper Federico Ravaglia as a potential successor. Ravaglia has spent the past two seasons understudying Polish international Łukasz Skorupski and could welcome the opportunity for regular first-team football elsewhere.
With pre-season preparations approaching, Okoye’s future is expected to be one of the transfer stories to watch as Juventus weigh their options and Udinese prepare for another campaign in Serie A.
