Kalu Rallies Southeast Behind Tinubu’s Second Term Bid, Pledges APC Victory in Abia

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has urged the Southeast to back President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s bid for a second term, highlighting the president’s reforms across economic, social, and political sectors.

Speaking in Umuahia during a courtesy visit by the Abia State chapter of the Tinubu Mandate Support Group, led by Armstrong Okoronkwo, and members of the Club 17 Initiative, led by Prince George Nnanna, Kalu said Tinubu has earned the region’s support through his bold leadership over the past two years. “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a good product to be sold for a second term," Kalu said. "I believed in him a long time ago, but he first believed in me, and started assisting me before I met him. I was one of those who went to meet him and beg him to run for President." Kalu described Tinubu as a "progressive Nigerian" determined to leave a lasting legacy, noting the president’s deliberate efforts to reposition the country. “He’s doing a lot that has never been done,” Kalu added. “Our business is to tell the people the good work of President Tinubu’s agenda. Igbos should come together, let’s give President Bola Ahmed Tinubu all the support that he needs. We should invest our votes where there’s progress, and that’s Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. It’s on his mandate that we’re going to stand as Ndi Igbo. He came and started giving us relevance, brought us closer.”

Commending the support groups for their grassroots mobilization, Kalu encouraged stronger collaboration between the Southeast and Southwest, stressing the need for unity in advancing Tinubu’s re-election campaign. In a separate address to the Club 17 Initiative, Kalu expressed confidence that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would win the 2027 gubernatorial election in Abia State, assuring that the party is being strengthened to secure future victories. Earlier, Tinubu Mandate Support Group chairman Armstrong Okoronkwo praised Kalu for his legislative performance and pledged unwavering commitment to Tinubu’s 2027 re-election efforts. On his part, Prince George Nnanna of Club 17 revealed that the group had completed the task of nominating Peace Marshals across all wards in line with the Peace in South East Project (PISE-P) objectives.

He reaffirmed Club 17’s full support for the APC and its leadership in the region.
