Kano Pillars sign landmark media partnership deal with RFI Hausa
Kano Pillars Football Club has signed a groundbreaking Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Radio France Internationale (RFI) Hausa, marking a significant step toward elevating the club's media presence and commercial appeal.
The agreement, which positions RFI Hausa as the official media partner of the club, was formally signed on Thursday by the newly appointed General Manager of Kano Pillars, Ahmed Musa, former Super Eagles captain.
Since taking the reins at the club, Musa has unveiled a bold nine-point agenda aimed at revitalizing Pillars. A major pillar of that strategy is forging strategic partnerships to reposition the club both locally and internationally.
Speaking shortly after the signing, Musa hailed the deal as a "historic moment" for the club, given its enormous following not just in Kano or across Nigeria but throughout Africa.
“This is just the beginning,” Musa said. “We’re here to take Kano Pillars to the next level. We promised to give our best and strong sponsorships, especially from within and beyond Kano, which are vital to that journey.
“RFI is offering far more than we expected. Their support includes ₦5 million in direct cash and an overall package valued at around ₦100 million.”
The deal includes a comprehensive media and branding package that aims to boost the club’s visibility and communication efforts.
RFI Hausa, Director and Chief Coordinator in Nigeria, Joseph Penny, described the partnership as a reflection of the organisation’s ongoing commitment to grassroots development and community engagement through sports.
“We are here to support Ahmed Musa’s visionary leadership,” Penny stated. “Kano Pillars is one of Nigeria’s most storied football institutions. This partnership, our first football sponsorship in history, is a major milestone for RFI.”
The sponsorship package includes full funding for new club kits, provision of modern media equipment, professional training for Kano Pillars’ media team in video production, and exclusive media publishing on RFI Hausa platforms.
