Molde clarifies position on Daniel Daga's legal battle
Norwegian club Molde FK has clarified its position regarding former Nigeria U‑20 national football team midfielder Daniel Daga following his recent sentencing, stating that the player will remain excluded from matchday activities while the legal process continues.
In an official statement, the Norwegian side acknowledged the sensitivity of the case while emphasising its responsibility toward both the player and all parties affected by the situation.
“This is a very difficult case for everyone involved,” the club said. “Molde Football Club has a responsibility as an employer to take care of our employees in a responsible manner, while also having great respect for the seriousness of the case and the burden it places on all affected parties.”
The club confirmed that Daga will not be considered for selection until further notice, effectively keeping him out of competitive action as the legal proceedings unfold.
Molde had earlier taken precautionary measures in December, announcing that the Nigerian midfielder would be withdrawn from both training sessions and matches while the matter was being addressed in court.
The development has drawn attention across Nigerian football circles, given Daga’s status as a former Flying Eagles standout and one of the promising young midfielders to emerge from the country’s youth national team setup.
