Morocco has selected Casablanca as its preferred venue for the 2030 FIFA World Cup final, with plans underway to build a massive new stadium with a capacity of about 115,000 spectators, SavidNews can report.

The proposed venue would become one of the largest football stadiums in the world and is expected to serve as the centrepiece of Morocco’s hosting plans for the 2030 tournament.

Morocco, together with Spain and Portugal, will host the 2030 FIFA World Cup, while Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay will stage separate centenary celebration matches. FIFA formally approved the hosting arrangement in December 2024. 

The decision to target Casablanca for the tournament’s showpiece match underlines Morocco’s ambition to stage the final in a venue capable of accommodating one of the largest audiences in World Cup history.

The proposed 115,000-capacity stadium would give Casablanca a spectacular setting for the closing ceremony and final of the centenary edition of the competition.

However, the reported Moroccan selection should not yet be regarded as an official FIFA confirmation of the 2030 World Cup final venue.

The 2030 tournament will be unique in World Cup history, with matches spread across three continents as football celebrates the centenary of the competition.

Morocco’s role will be particularly significant as it becomes the first African country to co-host a men’s FIFA World Cup.

The North African nation has continued to strengthen its football infrastructure following its historic run to the semi-finals of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Hosting the 2030 final in Casablanca would represent another major milestone for Moroccan football and further reinforce the country’s growing status as a leading football hub in Africa.

The proposed stadium would also add to Morocco’s expanding portfolio of major football facilities and could become one of the most recognisable venues on the continent.

For Casablanca, securing the final would place the city at the centre of global football attention, with millions of supporters expected to converge on Morocco for the climax of the 2030 tournament.

While the final venue remains subject to FIFA’s official confirmation, Morocco’s choice signals its determination to make the country’s hosting role one of the defining features of the 2030 World Cup.

The tournament will officially bring together Morocco, Portugal and Spain as the principal hosts, while Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay will each stage one centenary celebration match. 

If FIFA ultimately approves Casablanca for the final, the proposed 115,000-seat stadium would provide a fitting stage for the decisive match of the 2030 World Cup and a historic celebration of 100 years of football’s biggest global tournament.
