Morocco vs Angola: All You Need to Know About the 2026 Futsal AFCON Final in Rabat

Hosts and defending champions Morocco will face Angola in the final of the 2026 TotalEnergies CAF Futsal Africa Cup of Nations on Wednesday night, with the Atlas Lions targeting a historic fourth consecutive continental crown.

The final is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. local time at the Moulay Abdellah Sports Hall in Rabat, where Morocco will seek to maintain their dominance of African futsal against an ambitious Angolan side chasing its first-ever title.

Morocco secured their place in the final with a commanding 6-0 victory over Egypt in Monday’s second semi-final, extending their impressive run as they continue their quest to retain the trophy on home soil.

The defending champions established control early in the contest, with Bilal Bakkali opening the scoring in the ninth minute before Ismail Amazal doubled the advantage a minute later.

Amazal struck again in the 15th minute to give Morocco a comfortable 3-0 lead before the interval, leaving Egypt with a difficult task against the tournament hosts.

Morocco maintained their intensity after the restart, with Bakkali completing his brace in the 22nd minute. Soufian Charraoui then scored twice, finding the net in the 31st and 38th minutes to complete the emphatic victory.

Angola, meanwhile, booked their place in the final after producing a dramatic second-half comeback to defeat Algeria 3-2 in the other semi-final.

Algeria appeared to be in control after Mathieu Hammad opened the scoring in the ninth minute, before Ait Hamadouce added a second goal in the 19th minute.

However, Angola refused to surrender and gradually worked their way back into the contest. Aderito Santos pulled one back in the 29th minute, restoring belief in the Angolan camp.

Hornes Do Santo equalised in the 35th minute before Francisco Gabriel Chico scored the decisive goal in the 38th minute to complete the turnaround and send Angola into a second consecutive final.

The final will be a repeat of the 2024 edition, when Morocco defeated Angola to lift the continental trophy. The North Africans have won the competition three times consecutively, in 2016, 2020 and 2024.

Another victory would extend Morocco’s remarkable run and secure a fourth title in succession, further strengthening their position among Africa’s leading futsal nations.

Angola, however, will be determined to rewrite the history of the competition. After finishing runners-up in 2024, the Palancas Negras have another opportunity to claim their maiden African futsal championship.

Their resilience in overcoming Algeria will provide confidence ahead of the final, although they face a formidable Moroccan team backed by home support and a strong record in the tournament.

Before the final, Egypt and Algeria will contest the third-place match, scheduled for 5:00 p.m. local time at the Moulay Abdellah Sports Hall.

The third-place encounter will determine the tournament’s bronze medallists, while the evening’s headline fixture will decide whether Morocco extend their reign or Angola emerge as champions for the first time.

Both matches form the climax of the 2026 TotalEnergies CAF Futsal Africa Cup of Nations, which has brought eight national teams together in Rabat from October 12 to 21.

With Morocco chasing another title and Angola seeking a historic breakthrough, Wednesday’s final promises a compelling conclusion to the continental championship.
