NBBF names 20-player preliminary squad ahead of 2025 FIBA Women's Afrobasket

The Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) has unveiled a 20-player preliminary roster for the senior women’s national team, D’Tigress, as preparations ramp up for the 2025 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket.

The squad features a strong blend of experienced stars and rising prospects, signalling the team’s intent to maintain its dominance on the African stage.

Leading the charge are veteran guards Promise Amukamara and Ezinne Kalu, alongside dynamic forwards Amy Okonkwo and Nicole Enabosi. The frontcourt gets a major boost with the return of Victoria Macaulay, Christabel Ezumah, and Lauren Ebo, all key contributors in past campaigns.

Also, making the cut are exciting young talents like Grace Efosa and Solape Amusan, who earns her second national team call-up. Both will be looking to impress and secure a place on the final roster.

Before the AfroBasket tournament, D’Tigress will host a homecoming event from July 18 to 20 at the MO Arena in Abuja. The friendly series will see Nigeria face off against Togo and Kenya in a bid to fine-tune the team ahead of the continental battle.
