NFF in talks with Thomas Dennerby for Super Falcons return

Thomas Dennerby is in advanced talks with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) regarding a dramatic return to his former role as senior women's national team head coach.

According to sources close to the situation, the 65-year-old Swedish manager has emerged as the federation’s primary target to lead the women’s national team.

Preliminary negotiations are moving swiftly as the NFF aims for a smooth managerial transition.

Track Record & Past Credentials

First Stint: Head coach from January 2018 to September 2019.

Continental Glory: Guided Nigeria to the 2018 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title in Ghana.

World Cup Milestone: Led the squad to the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup knockout rounds in France—the team's first appearance in the knockout stage in 20 years.

Dennerby previously stepped down in late 2019 following an administrative dispute with the NFF before taking over the Indian women’s national team.

Should both parties finalize financial terms and contract details, the NFF will issue an official announcement, tasking Dennerby with stabilizing the squad ahead of upcoming continental fixtures especially Paris 2028 Olympics Qualifiers.
