Inter Lagos recorded a landmark victory over Enyimba, Kano Pillars ended Doma United’s perfect start, while defending champions Rangers International continued their unbeaten run as the 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) delivered another eventful Matchday 4 at the weekend.

The weekend produced several notable results across the country, with newly promoted Inter Lagos claiming their first top-flight victory, Abia Warriors securing an away win in Lagos and Plateau United completing a comeback against Shooting Stars.

Inter Lagos stun Enyimba in Aba

Inter Lagos secured their first NPFL victory by defeating nine-time champions Enyimba 1-0 at the Enyimba Stadium on Sunday.

Ezekiel Moses proved decisive for the visitors, scoring the only goal in the 18th minute with a header from a well-delivered cross. Inter Lagos subsequently defended their advantage to claim a historic result against the Aba giants. 

The defeat extended Enyimba’s difficult beginning to the campaign. The former champions remain without a point after their opening three league appearances, having also suffered defeats against Niger Tornadoes and Doma United. 

Pillars bring Doma’s winning run to an end

Kano Pillars produced the biggest winning margin of the round, defeating previously unbeaten Doma United 4-1 at the Sani Abacha Stadium.

Abdullahi Musa opened the scoring before veteran midfielder Rabiu Ali doubled the advantage. Doma responded through Sadiq Rilwan early in the second half, but Kano Pillars restored their two-goal cushion through former Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa before Nasiru Salihu completed the scoring late in the match. 

The result brought Doma United’s three-match winning streak to an end. The Gombe side had entered the fixture with three victories and three consecutive clean sheets, having defeated Sporting Lagos, Inter Lagos and Enyimba earlier in the campaign. 

Rangers continue unbeaten run

Defending champions Rangers International also maintained their unbeaten start with a 4-2 victory over Kun Khalifat FC.

The champions responded strongly after falling behind, with Temitope Folarin and Waheed Adebayo among the Rangers scorers before Chimobi Igwilo produced a decisive brace. Kun Khalifat also found the net twice through Preye Seikorowei and Ayuba Umar. 

The victory followed Rangers’ 2-1 win over Nasarawa United in their rearranged Matchday 3 fixture on September 17, leaving the champions with three wins from their three completed league matches. 

Abia Warriors silence Sporting Lagos

Abia Warriors also enjoyed an important away victory, defeating Sporting Lagos 2-0 at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena.

The game appeared destined for a goalless finish until Ikoi Etta broke the deadlock in the 88th minute. Former NPFL top scorer Emeka Obioma then added a second goal in stoppage time to seal the points for the visitors. 

Plateau United complete comeback

At the New Jos Stadium, Plateau United recovered from an early setback to defeat Shooting Stars 3-1.

Shooting Stars took the lead through Taheer Abubakar in the 15th minute, but Plateau United turned the contest around after the interval. Jibrin Ibrahim equalised before Seiyefa Jackson put the hosts ahead, with Gideon Monday completing the comeback late in the match. 

Other Matchday 4 results

Warri Wolves edged Kwara United 1-0, with Ejike Ezekiel scoring the decisive goal, while Katsina United defeated Niger Tornadoes by the same margin through Abdulrahman Garba.

Ranchers Bees defeated Bendel Insurance 2-1, newly promoted Barau FC held Ikorodu City to a goalless draw, while Nasarawa United and Rivers United shared the points in a 1-1 draw in Lafia. 

With several outstanding fixtures still to be played because of the league’s rearranged schedule, the early NPFL table remains fluid. However, Matchday 4 has already produced significant shifts, with Doma United losing their perfect record, Rangers strengthening their position with another victory and Enyimba still searching for their first points of the campaign.
