NPFL mourns Shooting Stars Assistant Coach Akin Olowokere

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Akin Olowokere, an assistant coach of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC), who died on Monday.

Olowokere reportedly slumped during a training session at the Dipo Dina Stadium in Ijebu-Ode while carrying out his duties. Efforts to revive him proved unsuccessful.

In a condolence message, NPFL Chairman Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye described the loss as a huge blow to the league and to Nigerian football.

“It is sad to hear of the death of one of the coaches who had made his mark in the game and had only just resumed his role at Shooting Stars,” Elegbeleye said. “He was passionate about football and the NPFL, which is why he was part of the Shooting Stars project. We extend our condolences to his family, friends, and everyone at Shooting Stars.”

Olowokere had been appointed ahead of the new season to work alongside head coach Nurudeen Aweroro, bringing his experience and commitment to the Oluyole Warriors’ technical crew.
