NPFL suspends Kun Khalifat Media Officer Saviola Godwin Otu for five matches

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has suspended Kun Khalifat FC media officer Saviola Godwin Otu for five matches and fined him ₦200,000 over an unprofessional social media publication and his failure to honour the league’s invitation.

According to the league, the disciplinary action follows a video posted on X, formerly Twitter, depicting a post-match incident involving an injured coach, accompanied by a statement.

The NPFL described the publication, particularly the accompanying statement and circulation of graphic content, as inappropriate and inconsistent with the professionalism and responsibility expected of a club media officer.

The league also stated that the publication portrayed the competition in a negative light, with the potential to undermine public confidence in the league and create tension among clubs and supporters.

Otu’s failure to honour the league’s invitation to address the matter was also cited as a serious issue warranting disciplinary action.

The NPFL has reminded clubs and their media officers that complaints concerning match incidents should be submitted through the league’s established channels to ensure proper investigation and appropriate action.

The league reiterated the importance of professionalism and responsible communication in protecting the integrity and reputation of the competition.
