NPFL unveils 2026/27 opening matchday fixtures
The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has officially unveiled the fixtures for the opening weekend of the 2026/27 season following the league's annual draw held in Ibadan on Friday, setting the stage for another thrilling campaign.
Defending champions Rangers will launch the defence of their crown with a home fixture against Katsina United in one of the headline matches of the opening round.
In Ibadan, Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) will entertain newly promoted Inter Lagos in a keenly anticipated South West derby at the Lekan Salami Stadium as both sides begin their quest for a strong start to the season.
Elsewhere, Ikorodu City welcome fellow newcomers Ranchers Bees, while Abia Warriors host Kun Khalifa. Bendel Insurance will square off against Warri Wolves in a regional contest, with another promoted side, Barau FC, taking on Nasarawa United.
Former title contenders Rivers United will host Plateau United in Port Harcourt, while newly promoted Doma United face Sporting Lagos.
Kwara United are set for a tough home encounter against Kano Pillars, and Niger Tornadoes will battle nine time champions Enyimba.
The opening day fixtures promise an exciting start to the new NPFL season, with several newly promoted clubs aiming to make an immediate impact against established top flight opposition.
