Osimhen celebrates birth of daughter with goal in Galatasaray win vs Konyaspor

Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen celebrated the arrival of his second child by scoring for Galatasaray in their emphatic 4-0 away victory over Konyaspor in the Turkish Super Lig on Friday.

The Nigerian forward had initially remained in Istanbul after the birth of his daughter, Liora Audrey, on Thursday, missing the team’s scheduled journey to Konya ahead of the Matchday 10 fixture.

However, the 27-year-old later travelled by private jet to join his teammates and was named in the starting line-up for the encounter at the Konya Büyükşehir Stadium.

Osimhen wasted little time making his presence felt, opening the scoring in the 12th minute with a header from Gabriel Sara’s cross.

His goal came less than 24 hours after Galatasaray announced the birth of his second daughter with his partner, Stefanie Kim Ladewig.

The Turkish champions had congratulated the couple in an official statement, welcoming their newborn and wishing her a long, healthy and happy life.

Osimhen’s goal continued his impressive scoring run, having also found the net in Galatasaray’s previous two matches, including his brace in the Istanbul derby victory over Fenerbahçe.

Yunus Akgün doubled Galatasaray’s advantage in the 28th minute before Aleksey Batrakov made it 3-0 shortly after the restart.

Rafael Leão completed the scoring from the penalty spot in the 55th minute as Galatasaray secured a convincing victory.

The result took Galatasaray to 25 points and strengthened their position at the top of the Turkish Super Lig standings.

Osimhen’s latest strike further underlined his importance to the Istanbul club, with the Nigerian continuing to deliver goals as Galatasaray pursue another league title.

The match also featured another Super Eagles international, with defender Chidozie Awaziem playing the full 90 minutes for Konyaspor.
