Nasarawa Amazons edge Heartland Queens on penalties to win 2026 President Federation Cup title

Nasarawa Amazons are back on the throne after defeating Heartland Queens 6-5 on penalties to lift the 2026 Women's President Federation Cup at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba.

The thrilling final ended 1-1 after regulation time, with both teams finding the net in the second half before the Amazons held their composure in the shootout to claim their third Federation Cup title.

The opening 45 minutes produced plenty of intensity but no goals. Nasarawa Amazons enjoyed the better start, controlling possession and dictating the tempo, while Heartland Queens gradually settled into the contest and created chances of their own. However, both goalkeepers stood firm as the first half ended goalless.

Heartland Queens struck first just two minutes after the restart when Chizoba Johnson calmly slotted home in the 47th minute to hand her side the advantage.

But the Amazons responded in style. Substitute Adaobi Judith, introduced in the 57th minute, made an immediate impact by poking home from close range in the 65th minute after a goalmouth scramble to bring Nasarawa Amazons level.

With neither side able to find a winner in regulation time, the final went to a dramatic penalty shootout.

Nasarawa Amazons kept their cool from the spot, sealing a 6-5 victory to reclaim the trophy after last year's heartbreak against Rivers Angels.

The triumph not only secured their third Women's President Federation Cup crown but also served as sweet redemption, as the Lafia-based side returned to the summit of Nigerian women's football.
