Nasarawa United top NPFL log after winning against El Kanemi Warriors

Nasarawa United returned to the summit of the Nigeria Premier Football League with a commanding 3–0 win over Elkanemi Warriors on a day dominated by draws across matchday 14.

The Solid Miners, in superb form, swept aside the visitors at the Lafia Township Stadium. Last season’s top scorer, Anas Yusuf, bagged a brilliant brace before Garba Mohammed added a third just three minutes into the second half.

The victory lifts Mbwas Mangut’s men three points clear at the top of the table, pending Ikorodu City’s clash with Kano Pillars on Monday in Katsina. Next up, Nasarawa United travel to face Warri Wolves, while Elkanemi Warriors visit Shooting Stars in Ibadan.

Elsewhere, four of Sunday’s six remaining fixtures ended in stalemates. Shooting Stars, who should have made their dominance count, were held to a goalless draw by Kwara United in Ilorin. It was also 0–0 in Umuahia, where Abia Warriors and Bendel Insurance cancelled each other out, extending Imama Amapakabo’s winless run to three matches.

Bayelsa United continued their impressive away form with a 1–1 draw in Bauchi. Ifeanyi Ogba fired the visitors ahead before Nasiru Jibrin once again delivered late heroics for Wikki Tourists to salvage a point. It also finished 1–1 in Ozoro, where Kun Khalifat fought back through Lekan Gabriel after Ademola Adebambo’s early opener for Warri Wolves.

Defending champions, Remo Stars climbed steadily up the log with a routine 2–0 victory over Barau FC in Abeokuta, thanks to first-half goals from Ahmed Akinyele and Victor Mbaoma. In Enugu, Kenechukwu Agu’s strike secured a narrow 1–0 win for Rangers International against Niger Tornadoes.

Matchday 14 concludes on Monday with Kano Pillars taking on Ikorodu City in Katsina and Katsina United facing Enyimba in Ilorin.
