A Nigerian table tennis star has crashed out of the Round of 16 at the 2026 ITTF Africa Championship in Tangier, Morocco, after retiring from his match against Egypt’s Mohammed Elbeiali due to injury.

The Nigerian was trailing 3-2 in sets when the injury forced him to abandon the encounter, bringing his campaign at the continental championship to an unfortunate end.

The setback denied the Nigerian player the opportunity to complete the match and battle for a place in the quarter-finals.

The 2026 ITTF Africa Championship is taking place in Tangier, Morocco, with leading table tennis players from across the continent competing for honours.
