OFFICIAL: Goalkeeper Fatima Oloko joins Ahudiyannem Queens after Nigeria WAFCON exit

Nigeria goalkeeper Fatima Oloko has returned to club action, featuring for Abia Angels rivals Ahudiyannem Queens in a pre-season friendly against Nigeria Women’s Football League champions Bayelsa Queens.

Oloko was involved in the encounter shortly after Nigeria’s disappointing campaign at the 2026 TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

The 18-year-old goalkeeper was part of the Super Falcons squad that travelled to Morocco for the tournament after earning a place in Justine Madugu’s 25-player selection. The Nigeria Football Federation had listed Oloko among the three goalkeepers selected for the competition.

Nigeria began the tournament with a 3-2 defeat to Malawi before recovering with a 1-0 victory over Zambia and a commanding 6-2 win against Egypt.

The Falcons, however, suffered a 1-0 quarter-final defeat to Cameroon, ending their hopes of defending the continental title and securing an automatic place at the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup. They subsequently lost 2-1 to South Africa in the play-in fixture.

Oloko’s return to club football provides an early opportunity for the young goalkeeper to continue her development after gaining valuable experience around Nigeria’s senior national team.

The former Abia Angels goalkeeper enjoyed an outstanding 2025/26 NWFL Premiership campaign, helping the club reach the Super Six for the first time and earning recognition as the league’s Goalkeeper of the Season. She was also named in the NWFL Best XI.

Her performances subsequently earned her a place in the Super Falcons squad for the Morocco tournament, marking another significant step in her rapidly developing career.

The friendly against Bayelsa Queens therefore offered Oloko an immediate return to competitive football following the national team’s WAFCON campaign.

For the young Nigerian international, the focus will now shift towards building on her experience with the Super Falcons and maintaining her club form ahead of the new season.
