Rasheedat Ajibade, Chiamaka Nnadozie make final three for 2025 CAF Awards

Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade and goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie have both been named in the final shortlist for the 2025 CAF Women’s Player of the Year and Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year awards.

Announced on Sunday, Ajibade is one of three finalists for the prestigious Women’s Player of the Year award after a stellar campaign for both club and country. The Paris Saint-Germain Féminine star played a decisive role in Nigeria’s historic triumph at the 2024 WAFCON, held earlier this year in Morocco where she was crowned the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.

Before her summer move to PSG, Ajibade also helped Atlético Madrid Femenino secure Champions League qualification. She now competes for the crown against Morocco’s Ghizlane Chebbak (Al Hilal), top scorer at WAFCON 2024, and AS FAR forward Sanaa Mssoudy.

Despite an outstanding displays for Nigeria, including winning the WAFCON 2024 final MVP award, Esther Okoronkwo narrowly missed out on a place in the top three.

Nigeria’s strong presence continued in the goalkeeping category, where Chiamaka Nnadozie earned another place among the final three nominees for the Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year award. The Brighton & Hove Albion shot-stopper, who has claimed the award in each of the past two editions, delivered commanding performances for the Super Falcons at WAFCON 2024 and continued her fine form with Paris FC before her move to England.

Nnadozie is shortlisted alongside Morocco’s Khadija Er-Rmichi (AS FAR) and South Africa’s Andile Dlamini (Mamelodi Sundowns).

Both Nigerians will hope to cap an exceptional year when CAF announces the winners on Wednesday, 19 November 2025, in Rabat, Morocco.
