Rivers Angels go top, Ahudiyannem Queens move above drop zone after NWFL Premiership Matchday 11
Matchday 11 of the 2025/26 NWFL Premiership delivered a gripping mix of late winners, crucial points, and shifting fortunes, as the race for Super Six spots and the fight against relegation both took dramatic turns.
In Group B, Ahudiayannem Queens provided one of the standout stories of the round, climbing out of the relegation zone after a commanding 3–0 victory over Osun Babes in Aba. It marked their second consecutive win under Coach Adanna Nwaneri, a first this season signalling a timely resurgence. Grace Aaron set the tone early with a fourth-minute opener before Nwabueze Charles doubled the lead in the 23rd minute. Aaron returned late on to seal the result in the 80th minute, lifting her side to seventh while Osun Babes slipped to the bottom of the table.
Nasarawa Amazons left it late but made it count, edging Dannaz Ladies 1–0 in Lafia courtesy of Deborah Onyekachi’s stoppage-time strike. The narrow win strengthens the Amazons’ push up the standings, while Dannaz’s defeat sees them drop to ninth.
There was little to separate Confluence Queens and Robo Queens in Iyamho, as both sides settled for a 1–1 draw. Oluwakemi Adegbuyi fired Robo ahead in the 28th minute, but Vicental Ezeani calmly converted from the spot before the break to ensure Confluence claimed a valuable point, moving them up to eighth. Elsewhere, Sunshine Queens and Delta Queens played out a stalemate in Akure, while Abia Angels and Remo Stars Ladies also shared the spoils in a goalless encounter in Aba.
In Group A, Rivers Angels surged to the summit with a clinical 2–0 win over Naija Ratels in Bwari. Early goals from Abasiofon Uwah and Grace Saliu inside the opening 20 minutes set the tone for a dominant display, sending Rivers to the top while Bayelsa Queens dropped from first to third.
Edo Queens continued their steady climb, moving into second place after grinding out a 1–0 win over Heartland Queens in Owerri. Kafayat Mafisere proved the difference-maker with a decisive 73rd-minute strike.
Adamawa Queens also secured a vital home win, defeating Ekiti Queens 2–1 in Makwada. Ifeoma Damien and Favour Godwin gave the hosts a comfortable cushion before Winifred Eyebhoria’s late goal for Ekiti set up a nervy finish.
At the Lekan Salami Stadium, Pacesetter Queens snatched a dramatic 1–1 draw against Ibom Angels. An early own goal from Olufunke Taiwo had handed Ibom the lead, but Olaronke Ola’s stoppage-time equaliser ensured the points were shared, with Ibom moving up to sixth in the group.
