Samuel Chukwueze undergoes successful hip surgery, face spell on sidelines
Nigeria international Samuel Chukwueze has successfully undergone surgery to repair a ruptured tendon in his left hip, Italian giants AC Milan have confirmed.
The Serie A club announced on Wednesday that the operation was performed in London by Professor Ernest Schilders, with Dr Stefano Mazzoni in attendance.
“AC Milan confirms that Samuel Chukwueze has undergone surgery in London to repair a ruptured tendon of the tensor fasciae latae muscle in his left hip,” the club stated on its official website.
“The operation, performed by Professor Ernest Schilders with Dr Stefano Mazzoni in attendance, was successful.
“Chukwueze will return to Italy today, where he will begin his rehabilitation.”
The 27-year-old winger is expected to remain sidelined until the end of the year, a development that will rule him out of Nigeria’s upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying double-header against Tanzania’s Taifa Stars.
Chukwueze sustained the injury during preparations for AC Milan’s UEFA Europa League encounter against Bournemouth last month.
The former Villarreal winger had enjoyed an encouraging start to the season following his return from a loan spell at Fulham.
He has registered two assists in eight appearances across all competitions for the Rossoneri this season.
