Super Falcons players snubbed for first time as CAF unveils Women's Player of the Year nominees

Nigeria’s Super Falcons players have been left out of the nominations for the 2026 CAF Women’s Player of the Year award.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) unveiled the nominees for the annual awards on Tuesday, with no Nigerian player making the final list.

This will be the first time Nigeria made no CAF Awards nomination for women's player of the year.

African champions Cameroon lead the nominations with three players: Marie Ngah Manga, Michaely Bihina and Monique Ngock.

Malawi, who finished as runners-up, have two representatives in the list, with sisters Tabitha and Temwa Chawinga earning nominations.

The other nominees are Marine Dafeur (Algeria), Portia Boakye (Ghana), Hanane Aït El Haj (Morocco), Thembi Kgatlana (South Africa) and Barbra Banda (Zambia).
