Volleyball Championship: Customs CG Encourages Team to Recover
Adewale Adeniyi, the Comptroller General of Customs, has called on the Customs team to enhance their performance in the ongoing 2025 African Women’s Volleyball Club Championship.
His remarks came in Abuja following the Nigeria Customs Service women's team's defeat by Club Féminin de Carthage (CFC) of Tunisia, with a score of 0-3 in Pool A.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the NCS players began each set positively but struggled to sustain their performance, ultimately losing all three sets.
The scores were 18-25 in the first set, 19-25 in the second, and 13-25 in the third.
After the match, Adeniyi emphasized that there is still much at stake in the tournament.
He pointed out that the competition is not yet concluded, as more matches remain to be played.
“Both teams have secured one victory each, and the result of the match between Rwanda and Cameroon is still pending,” he noted.
He encouraged the athletes, expressing that there is still potential for success and that the tournament remains competitive.
Adeniyi expressed optimism that the coaching staff would rectify the mistakes made, particularly those observed in the second set.
He is confident that with the appropriate adjustments and enhanced execution, the team can recover.
The CGC stated: “The coaches will regroup and strategize for our upcoming match.
“We will focus on correcting our errors.
“We are optimistic about delivering a stronger performance in the next game.”
The NAN also reported that in another Pool A match, APR (Rwanda) triumphed over Mayo Kani Evolution (MKE) of Cameroon with a score of 3-1 (25-19, 18-25, 21-25, 19-25).
In Pool B, Kenya Prisons (PRI) achieved their first victory by defeating Spiking Stars Volleyball (SSV) of Botswana 3-0 (25-9, 25-15, 25-16).
Additionally, in Pool D, Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) overcame Litto Team Volleyball (LTV) of Cameroon with a score of 3-1 (25-20, 25-18, 23-25, 25-21).
In Pool B, Zamalek SC (ZMK) of Egypt also secured a win against Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) Spikers 3-0.
