Wike Declares Himself ‘Hero of Democracy’ for Atiku’s 2023 Defeat

ABUJA – Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has boasted that he emerged as the true “hero of democracy” by ensuring former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s crushing defeat in the 2023 presidential election.

Wike dismissed claims that ex-Sokoto State governor, Aminu Tambuwal, deserved the PDP “hero” title for stepping down in Atiku’s favour during the party’s 2022 presidential primary.

“Those clowns who crowned Tambuwal ‘Hero of Convention’ should think again. I am the real hero of democracy because I made sure Atiku lost in the general election. He didn’t even get 5% in Rivers, and in 2027 his defeat will be even more humiliating,” Wike said in a recent interview.

The minister also ridiculed Atiku’s political history, accusing him of jumping between parties under the pretext of “hunger in the land.”

“Atiku was vice president for eight years under the PDP. He defected to ADC, then back to PDP, then to APC, then back again—all with the same excuse that Nigerians are hungry. Imagine such inconsistency,” Wike said mockingly.
