‘Our Title-Winning Season Should Be Documented’ — Iheanacho Reflects on Celtic Triumph

Kelechi Iheanacho has described Celtic FC’s dramatic Scottish Premiership title-winning campaign as a season worthy of a documentary after helping the club secure another historic league crown.

The Nigerian striker played a decisive role in Celtic’s successful title charge, scoring four crucial goals during the run-in as the Glasgow giants edged their rivals in one of the most dramatic championship races in recent years.

Speaking in an interview with Celtic TV monitored by PUNCH Sports Extra, Iheanacho admitted the emotional rollercoaster of the season made the triumph even more special.

“This season has been a crazy, crazy season. It should be on a documentary, and at the end, God crowned us with victory, so I am so happy,” Iheanacho said.

The former Leicester City FC forward said there were moments when many believed Celtic had lost control of the title race, but the squad continued fighting until the final stages of the campaign.

“At some point, everyone thought we had lost it, but we fought to the end and won it. I can’t even express how it feels.”

Iheanacho also praised Celtic supporters for standing by the team throughout the pressure-filled season, describing the latest league triumph as one of the club’s most dramatic titles.

“This one should be called a ‘drama trophy’. The fans should enjoy it, the whole city of Glasgow should enjoy it.”

One of the defining moments of Iheanacho’s campaign came in Celtic’s tense victory over Hibernian FC, where his late winner proved pivotal in keeping the club firmly in the title race.

Reflecting on the goal, the Super Eagles striker explained the importance of patience and composure in difficult matches.

“Playing against 10 men was difficult because they sat back. You need patience to create space, and we did that.”

He also recalled the pressure surrounding his crucial penalty in Celtic’s dramatic 3-2 victory over Motherwell FC, admitting his emotions were overwhelming in the moment.

“My heartbeat was really high. It was one of the biggest moments in my career. The keeper was teasing me a bit, but I kept my cool.”

The title marks another major achievement in Iheanacho’s decorated career and his first major silverware in recent seasons.

The Nigerian international also expressed appreciation to Celtic supporters, who have embraced him during his time at the club and even created a chant in his honour.

“I am happy the fans are loving and enjoying every moment because I am as well. We just need to keep this fighting spirit and continue winning together as a team.”
