15-year-old Autistic cyclist Kanye Tagbo-Okeke awards Guinness World record to Nigeria's Minister of Culture
Abuja, Nigeria – The Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musa Musawa, Esq., today received a Guinness World Record certificate from 15-year-old autistic artist and cyclist Kanyeyachukwu “Kanye” Tagbo-Okeke. The award recognized Kanye’s extraordinary 686-mile cycling expedition from Enugu to Lagos.
Minister Musawa lauded Kanye’s achievements, commending his family for nurturing his talents. She described the young cyclist as “a shining light for the world” and praised his resilience, creativity, and the inspiration he brings to autism awareness both in Nigeria and globally.
“Kanye is the personification of what makes us want to be better human beings. He continues to break every glass ceiling and surpass all expectations. When the world celebrates the greats, I have no doubt that Kanye’s name will be among them. I even believe that one day, he may be considered for the Nobel Peace Prize,” Musawa said.
The certificate was officially presented to the Minister by Kanye’s mother, Dr. Silvia Tagbo-Okeke, who expressed her gratitude for the Minister’s ongoing support.
“This second Guinness World Record is for cycling. He cycled from Enugu to Lagos, combining the journey with tourism highlights and community engagements in multiple states. We are honored to present the record to our ‘Mummy’ in recognition of her support for our exhibitions over the years,” Dr. Tagbo-Okeke said.
Dr. Tagbo-Okeke also announced Kanye’s upcoming art exhibition at the United Nations in New York, scheduled from 20th May to 25th August 2026.
Kanye, supported by his family and team, completed the journey between 19th March and 2nd April 2026. By cycling 686 miles, he not only set a new Guinness World Record but also became the youngest person to surpass the 100-mile mark in a single cycling expedition. The journey highlighted Nigeria’s culture, heritage, and landscapes through official receptions and community engagements along the route.
