2026 BSAFCONQ: Volta FA Chairman challenges Black Sharks to beat Nigeria and qualify
Volta Regional Football Association Chairman, Daniel Agbogah, has challenged Ghana’s national beach soccer team, the Black Sharks, to secure qualification for the 2026 Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations (BSAFCON) and make the country proud.
Agbogah made the call during a visit to the team’s camp in Keta, where he donated bottled water and refreshments to motivate the players ahead of Sunday’s decisive second-leg qualifier against Nigeria at Emancipation Beach.
“We challenge you to qualify and make Ghana proud,” he said.
“We believe in you. The Volta Region is a blessed land and God will not disappoint us. We believe that by the grace of God, you will qualify.”
The Volta FA chairman expressed pride in the region’s hosting of the continental qualifying fixture, explaining that he considered it important to visit the team personally and demonstrate his support.
“We are hosting the AFCON qualifiers here and I feel so proud, and I thought there was the need to come and show my face and support,” Agbogah stated.
He also commended the Black Sharks for their efforts in the first leg in Nigeria, assuring them that their performance had not gone unnoticed and encouraging them to work harder ahead of the return encounter.
“We are here to let you know that the good work you have done in Nigeria has not gone unnoticed. We believe that when you work harder, it will be easy for us,” he added.
“The entire region is behind you. We believe in you and we want you to go out there and make Ghana proud.”
The Black Sharks head into Sunday’s encounter following a 3-3 draw against Nigeria’s Super Sand Eagles in the first leg, leaving the qualification contest finely balanced.
Both teams will be aiming to secure the result needed to book their places at the 2026 Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations in Senegal.
In addition to encouraging the Ghanaian team, Agbogah also met Nigeria’s Super Sand Eagles upon their arrival in Keta, welcoming the visitors and assuring them of a warm reception and a comfortable stay.
He was accompanied during the visit by Volta Regional Executive Council members Wisdom Junior Bakah and Martin Torku, alongside Black Sharks Team Manager and Beach Soccer Management Committee member Reuben Dzidodo Adjahoe.
The visit highlighted the regional association’s support for the Black Sharks as Ghana prepares for a crucial encounter that will determine its beach soccer qualification hopes.
