2026 WAFCON dates confirmed as Nigeria set Qualifiers clash with Benin Republic

The 2026 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (WAFCON) has been officially scheduled to hold from March 17 to April 3, 2026, in Morocco.

The dates were revealed in a FIFA press release after Thursday’s Council meeting, although the Confederation of African Football (CAF) is yet to release a formal statement on the tournament calendar.

This edition comes on the heels of the delayed 2024 WAFCON, which concluded in July 2025 with Nigeria’s Super Falcons clinching a record-extending 10th title after defeating hosts Morocco. Like the last tournament, the 2026 showpiece will feature 12 teams, but with extra weight, the top four finishers will secure direct qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.

Morocco qualifies automatically as hosts, while the remaining 11 spots will be decided through the qualifiers. Nigeria’s Super Falcons are drawn against Benin Republic in the final round, with the first leg set for October 24 and the return leg on October 28.
