APC spokesman Durosinmi Meseko salutes Nigerian workers, reaffirms commitment to better welfare on May Day
The Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Durosinmi Meseko, has congratulated Nigerian workers as they mark the 2026 International Workers’ Day alongside the rest of the world.
In a statement issued on the occasion, Meseko described the nation’s workforce as the driving force of national development and the backbone of the economy. He commended workers across public and private sectors for their resilience, patriotism, and unwavering dedication.
According to him, despite ongoing economic challenges, Nigerian workers have continued to demonstrate remarkable strength and commitment.
“Today, we honour the men and women who rise daily to build our infrastructure, educate our children, care for the sick, and power our industries. Your sacrifices remain central to the nation’s growth and progress,” he said.
Meseko also addressed current economic conditions, assuring workers that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is firmly committed to improving their welfare and overall standard of living.
He outlined key priorities of the government to include ensuring fair and sustainable wages in line with economic realities, strengthening policies that safeguard workers’ rights and dignity, and expanding access to vocational and digital skills training to prepare Nigerians for the evolving global economy.
The APC chieftain further called on labour unions to sustain constructive engagement with the government, emphasizing that collaboration is vital to achieving the objectives of the “Renewed Hope” agenda.
“As we celebrate this important day, I encourage all workers to remain hopeful and resolute. The government is working diligently to ensure that your efforts yield a more inclusive and prosperous Nigeria,” he added.
Meseko concluded by wishing Nigerian workers a peaceful and fulfilling May Day celebration.
