Abuja to host North Central handball battle for Premier League promotion

 

 

The race for promotion to the Ardova Handball Premier League will gather momentum in Abuja as the North Central Zone National Division One Handball League gets underway later this month.

 

The competition is scheduled for September 23 to October 1, 2026, at the Indoor Sports Hall, Package ‘B’, MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, with teams from across the North Central Zone expected to compete for the sole promotion ticket.

 

In a notice signed by Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN) President and North Central Zonal Representative on the federation’s board, Mr. 

 

Jibril Ojih Saidu, FNIQS, participating teams are expected to arrive in Abuja on September 23, while matches will run from September 24 to 30.

 

Each participating team will be permitted a maximum delegation of 22 members, comprising 18 players and four officials. Teams have also been directed to make adequate arrangements for their arrival and departure in line with the approved schedule.

 

With promotion to the Ardova Handball Premier League at stake, the Abuja championship is expected to provide a stern test for the participating sides, while offering them a pathway to compete at the highest level of domestic handball.
