Amusan misses Diamond glory in Brussels
Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan narrowly missed out on a podium finish at the 2026 Diamond League Final in Brussels after clocking 12.54 seconds to place fourth in the women’s 100m hurdles.
The world class Nigerian hurdler was locked in a tight battle with Netherlands’ Nadine Visser, who also recorded 12.54 seconds.
However, a photo finish separated the pair, with Amusan eventually placed fourth.
World record holder Masai Russell produced the standout performance of the final, storming to victory in 12.20 seconds to claim the coveted Diamond Trophy.
Russell finished ahead of Bahamas’ Devynne Charlton, who clocked 12.33 seconds, while Megan Simmonds of Jamaica completed the podium in 12.43 seconds.
For Amusan, the fourth place finish adds another chapter to an illustrious Diamond League career.
The Nigerian remains one of the most decorated hurdlers of her generation and a consistent presence on the global athletics stage, having previously won the Diamond League title and set the world record of 12.12 seconds in 2022.
Although she fell short of the podium in Brussels, Amusan's 12.54 second performance underlines her continued competitiveness among the world's elite hurdlers.
