Asisat Oshoala nets brace as Al Hilal and Al Hali share spoils in six-goal thriller
Six-time African Player of the Year, Asisat Oshoala, was on target twice as Al Hilal were held to a pulsating 3–3 draw by Al Ahli in the Saudi Women’s Premier League on Thursday.
The Nigerian forward produced a commanding first-half display, scoring both goals within 11 minutes. She opened her account in the 31st minute with a composed close-range finish before calmly converting a penalty in the 42nd minute after being fouled in the box. The brace took her league tally to eight goals and two assists this season, and 15 goals with three assists across all competitions.
Al Hilal had earlier taken the lead in the 29th minute through Ghizlane Chebbak, who finished confidently from the centre of the area. Al Ahli responded swiftly in the 36th minute when Nawal Al-Gelaish inadvertently turned the ball into her own net, reducing the deficit. Oshoala’s penalty restored Al Hilal’s two-goal advantage, but Naomie Kabakaba struck in first-half stoppage time to pull one back and make it 3–2 at the interval.
Al Ahli completed their comeback after the break. Kabakaba turned provider in the 65th minute, racing down the flank and delivering an accurate cross that Fadwa Khaled headed home from close range to draw the visitors level at 3–3.
The result leaves Al Hilal third in the Saudi Women’s Premier League standings on 16 points, level with second-placed Al Ittihad and eight points adrift of leaders Al Nassr. They will next face NEOM as the title race continues.
