Asisat Oshoala's hat trick fires Al Hilal into Saudi Challenge Cup semi final

Six-time African Player of the Year Asisat Oshoala delivered a ruthless performance on Saturday, scoring a hat-trick to propel Al Hilal into the semi-finals of the Saudi Women’s Premier Challenge Cup with a commanding 5–0 win over Eastern Flames.

The Nigerian striker, who went into the game with six league goals in seven appearances, set the tone early at the Al Taraji Club Stadium. She opened the scoring in the first half, capping a dominant Al Hilal display to give her side a deserved lead at the interval.

Oshoala picked up where she left off after the break, calmly finishing to double Al Hilal’s advantage as Eastern Flames struggled to contain the wave of attacks coming their way.

Her night was capped in style later in the match when she completed her hat-trick, scoring Al Hilal’s fourth goal to register her first treble of the season and underline her growing influence in Saudi football.

The emphatic victory saw Al Hilal finish second in Group A, behind Al Nassr, who topped the group with a perfect record. Al Qadisiyah ended third, level on points with Al Hilal, but trailing on goal difference.

With momentum firmly on their side, Al Hilal now turn their focus to the Challenge Cup semi-finals, inspired by Oshoala’s clinical display as they chase a place in the final and a first trophy since winning the Kingdom Women’s Community Football League title in 2020.
