Asisat Oshoala scores, Francicsa Ordega assists as Al Ittihad outclass Al Hilal in Riyadh
Six-time African Player of the Year, Asisat Oshoala, found the net while fellow Nigerian Francisca Ordega provided an assist, but it was Al Ittihad who emerged victorious with a convincing 3–1 win over Al Hilal in Sunday’s Saudi Women’s Premier League clash.
Introduced at the start of the second half, Oshoala injected urgency into Al Hilal’s attack and pulled one back in the 74th minute. The forward burst past her marker on a solo run before calmly curling a right-footed finish beyond the goalkeeper. It was her ninth league goal of the campaign, adding to two assists, and took her overall season tally to 16 goals and three assists across all competitions.
By then, however, Al Ittihad had already taken firm control of the contest. The visitors opened the scoring in the 41st minute through Leticia Nunes, who was teed up by Ordega with a perfectly weighted pass. Momentum swung further in Ittihad’s favour just before the interval when Lamar Mohammed struck in first-half stoppage time (45+1) to make it 2–0.
Al Hilal pushed for a response after the break, but it was Mohammed who struck again in the 64th minute, completing her brace and extending Al Ittihad’s lead to three goals.
Super Falcons defender Ashleigh Plumptre was an unused substitute as Al Ittihad comfortably saw out the encounter to claim maximum points.
The victory lifts Al Ittihad to second place on the league table, while Al Hilal slip to fifth heading into the women’s international break.
