Bendel Insurance boost attack with signing of Suraj Lawal
Bendel Insurance have strengthened their squad ahead of the 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season with the signing of striker Suraj Lawal on a one-year contract.
The Benin-based club announced the arrival of the 24-year-old forward on their official Facebook page as preparations continue for the new league campaign.
Lawal joins the "Benin Arsenal" after spending last season with Abia Warriors, where he made 30 league appearances and scored three goals. The Lagos-born striker also previously featured for Heartland, giving him valuable top-flight experience that Bendel Insurance hope will bolster their attacking line.
The move is the latest in the club's recruitment drive, following the recent signing of Nwokeji Chukwuemeka Godstime from Enyimba on a two-year deal. Both additions reflect the club's ambition to build a stronger squad capable of challenging for greater success next season.
Bendel Insurance narrowly missed out on the top four in the 2025/26 NPFL campaign, finishing fifth with 56 points, just one point ahead of Lawal's former club, Abia Warriors, who placed seventh on 55 points.

Lawal will now be looking to hit the ground running in Benin City as Bendel Insurance continue preparations for the new season, with the club hoping his experience and attacking qualities will play a key role in their push for a stronger finish in the 2026/27 NPFL campaign.
