Bendel Insurance secure Premium Trust Bank as new front-shirt sponsor

Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side Bendel Insurance have secured a major commercial boost after Premium Trust Bank emerged as the club’s new front-of-shirt sponsor for the 2025/26 season.

According to a post on the X handle of NPFL broadcaster Nino, the Benin-based club will feature the Premium Trust Bank logo on the front of their iconic yellow and green jerseys, replacing Sterling Bank, which had served as their front-shirt sponsor since 2021.

Sterling Bank made history during the 2021/22 season by becoming the first private company to commit ₦50 million to shirt sponsorship of a Nigerian football club when Bendel Insurance were competing in the Nigeria National League (NNL).

The sponsorship was subsequently increased to ₦75 million following the club’s promotion to the NPFL. The partnership continued until the current season.

Premium Trust Bank’s arrival comes as Bendel Insurance seek to strengthen their commercial profile while pursuing further success on the pitch. The club ended a 43-year trophy drought by winning the 2023 Federation Cup.

The new partnership also addresses a sponsorship gap for the Edo State-owned club, which, according to an NPFL sponsorship tracker for the 2026/27 season, was among seven teams without a front-of-shirt sponsor until the latest development.

An official unveiling of the new Premium Trust Bank-branded jerseys is expected to take place in Benin in the coming days.

Premium Trust Bank has expanded its involvement in Nigerian sports through several partnerships. The bank served as headline sponsor of the National Sports Festival editions in Ogun State in 2024 and Enugu State in 2026.

It also sponsors Bayelsa Queens, serves as the official kit sponsor for NPFL referees and match commissioners, and partners with Nigerian athletes Tobi Amusan and Ese Brume.

The partnership with Bendel Insurance further strengthens the bank’s presence in Nigerian football and adds a new commercial dimension to the club’s preparations for the NPFL campaign.
