Osun FA Secretary, Media Officer reportedly asked to leave CAF D Coaching Course venue

The newly appointed Secretary of the Osun State Football Association, Mr Nicholas Famoyin, and a media officer attached to the Osun State Sports Council, popularly known as Isaac Zaza, were reportedly ordered to leave the premises of the Lanre Leke Sports Complex, venue of the CAF D Coaching Course, at about 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 28, 2026.

According to accounts surrounding the incident, the directive was allegedly issued on the orders of Osun FA Chairman, Mayor Sola Fanawopo. Mr Tunde Adebiyi, who reportedly identifies himself as the association’s Assistant Secretary, was said to have instructed security personnel to enforce the order.

Witnesses alleged that the security personnel involved were carrying firearms.

Famoyin, whose appointment was made by the Osun State Sports Council under the state’s sports administration led by Deputy Governor Prince Kola Adewusi, who also serves as Commissioner for Sports, maintained that his presence at the venue was in the course of his official duties and not a personal visit.

The development reportedly followed unsuccessful attempts by the newly appointed secretary to secure a formal handover from his predecessor, Mr Amoo Abayomi, who was said to have been redeployed.

Famoyin also cited difficulties reaching the FA chairman despite repeated telephone calls.

However, a source familiar with the situation claimed that Abayomi was still acting as the association’s secretary and was also present at the coaching course venue.

The conflicting accounts have raised questions about the status of the handover process and the recognition of Famoyin’s appointment within the association.

As of the time of filing this report, no official response had been obtained from the Osun State Football Association or the relevant sports authorities regarding the reported incident.
