Comoros Hit 30 Goals in Two Games, Earn Olympic Qualifier Date With Nigeria

Nigeria's Super Falcons will face Comoros in the second round of the 2028 Olympic Games women's football qualifiers after the island nation recorded a staggering 30-0 aggregate victory over Sudan in the opening round.

Comoros produced one of the most dominant performances in African women's football history, thrashing Sudan 17-0 in the first leg before completing the rout with a 13-0 win in the return fixture to secure passage to the next stage.

The Coelacanths took control from the outset of the first encounter, opening the scoring in the eighth minute and maintaining relentless pressure throughout the match. Their attacking dominance was reflected in the scoresheet, with nine different players finding the net.

They carried the same intensity into the second leg, scoring three goals before halftime and adding ten more after the interval to seal a remarkable aggregate triumph.

Despite Comoros' impressive scoring exploits, Nigeria's Super Falcons will enter the second-round tie as overwhelming favourites.

Under the guidance of coach Justine Madugu, the nine-time African champions have shown encouraging form in recent outings. The Super Falcons recently completed a double over Senegal, winning 2-1 and 3-0 in consecutive international friendlies at the Remo Stars Stadium.

The second-round qualifiers are scheduled to take place between October 5 and 13, 2026, with the winners advancing closer to securing one of Africa's two spots in the women's football tournament at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

For the Super Falcons, the journey toward Olympic qualification now begins against a Comoros side brimming with confidence after their record-breaking performance against Sudan.
