Dr Esther Aluko grateful for Sportsville Special Recognition Award nomination
One of the nominees for this year’s Sportsville Special Recognition Award, Esther Oluwatoyin Aluko, has expressed deep appreciation and gratitude for being selected for the prestigious honour.
Dr Aluko was listed among the nominees for the 6th edition of the Sportsville Special Recognition Awards, scheduled to take place on March 28 at the Lagos Country Club in Lagos.
In her acceptance message, the President of the Nigeria Netball Federation and the Association of Former Female Athletes of Nigeria (AFFAN) described the recognition as a meaningful milestone in her career in sports administration.
“I am deeply honoured and sincerely grateful to receive the Sportsville Special Recognition Award,” she said.
“This recognition is not only a celebration of my personal journey but also a tribute to the many mentors, colleagues, athletes, administrators and partners who have walked this path with me.
“Whatever impact my contributions may have made in sports development has been possible because of the collective commitment of passionate individuals who believe in the transformative power of sport.”
Dr Aluko added that she accepts the honour with humility and renewed commitment to continue serving the sporting community with integrity and dedication.
“I accept this award with humility and renewed dedication to continue serving the sporting community with integrity, excellence and purpose.
“Sport remains a powerful tool for youth empowerment, national unity and women’s advancement, and I remain fully committed to its growth and sustainability.”
She also thanked the organisers for recognising individuals who have contributed to sports development and for sustaining the annual awards platform.
Dr Aluko, a former netball player, currently serves as the National Course Director for the International Olympic Committee Sports Administration Course.
The 2026 edition of the Sportsville Special Recognition Awards, the sixth in the series, will be chaired by Larry Izamoje, Chairman of Brila FM Group.
